👑 King for the Day: Mr. Steve! 👑 Today, we’re shining a well-deserved spotlight on someone who keeps our campus not only clean and organized, but full of heart—our incredible custodian, Mr. Steve! Mr. Steve does so much more than what his job description requires. From fixing things before anyone even notices they're broken to helping students find their lost items, he’s always thinking one step ahead. He’s the kind of person who volunteers for breakfast and lunch duty, quietly supports students in earning community service hours, and stays late to prep the gym for school events—without ever seeking the spotlight. He notices the little things that make a big difference, and his thoughtful actions ripple through our campus every single day. 📢 Transportation Notice – OCS Big Horn Route 🚍 Due to a shortage of available personnel, the Big Horn AM bus route will NOT run tomorrow morning, May 1st. Falcon Athletic Update: As we approach the end of our soccer season we are gearing up for our league tournament. Dr. Daniel Bright will be hosting this tournament starting Thursday, May 8th. It will run through Friday, May 9th, and Saturday, May 10th. Parking for this tournament will be in the top parking lot with instructions on how to access the soccer field from there. There will be a $3.00 entry fee. All children 5 and under will enter for free. There will be absolutely ZERO TOLERANCE for mistreatment of the referees. If you violate this then you will be asked to leave the field. If you have any questions please email Athletic Director Carson Sandoval. csandoval@cocsd.k12.az.us

🍋📚 On Friday, our 3rd graders took part in a fun and meaningful Lemonade War! After reading The Lemonade Wars by Jacqueline Davies, the students got to work planning, pricing, and selling their own lemonade to recreate the book’s exciting competition. But it wasn’t just about the fun—they voted to donate their profits to two amazing causes: the local animal shelter and the victims of the recent California wildfires. In the end, the kids raised an incredible $289 for charity! 💛 A huge thank you to our 3rd graders for their hard work and generosity. Our OCS kids were excited to get going, and after getting bikes and helmets properly fitted, they hit the trails at John McCain Bike Park. Huge shoutout to the Wheel Fun volunteers—five amazing coaches showed up to help, making the experience even better! Thursday’s weather may have slowed us down, but that’s not stopping our riders from gearing up for more fun ahead. Can’t wait for our next ride! Mrs. Altringer from the Science Vortex came to visit Oak Creek School middle school students. She taught students about the transfer of energy and brought a tuning fork, a Van de Graaf machine, a flashlight, a ball with ramp, and marshmallows for students to figure out the energy transformation pathways.
