🚨 Important Update for Oak Creek Elementary Families 🚨
Oak Creek Elementary is currently experiencing a power outage. APS estimates power will be restored around 5:30 PM.
Because the outage affects our well system and restroom access, we will be releasing students early for health and safety reasons. Dismissal may begin at 1:45 PM, and a bus will be available at 2:00 PM to take students home to their regular stops.
If you are able to pick up your child, please come to the campus.
All 21st Century clubs and today’s soccer game are canceled.
If you have questions, please contact the district office. Thank you for your understanding and support.

🎉🐄🌽 Can you spell B-I-N-G-O?! 🌽🐄🎉

😁 From start to finish, the room was filled with hundreds of smiles, laughter, and pure joy—our families and students made it a night to remember! 🎉💫
🌱🐓 And the best part?! Together, we raised an incredible $1,295 to support Mrs. Ludden’s Agriculture Program! 🐐🌻 Your support helps grow hands-on learning opportunities for our students—how awesome is that?! 🌾📚
🎯 THANK YOU to everyone who came out, played, laughed, and supported this special event. Our community truly showed up! 💚
🎵 B-I-N-G-O… and Bingo was our WIN-O! 🎵 🐶🎉

Curiosity in Action: Learning Beyond the Test 💡
State testing season can bring a lot of nerves—especially for our third graders taking it for the very first time. But at OCS, we believe learning should still be engaging, meaningful, and even a little fun along the way 💡
Mrs. Bond’s third grade class recently combined science and hands-on exploration in a STEM-focused lesson all about reflections on concave and convex surfaces. Students investigated how light behaves, made observations, and discovered how reflections can change depending on the shape of a surface 🔍✨
Moments like these remind us that even during testing season, curiosity and creativity continue to shine in our classrooms. We’re proud of our third graders for working hard, staying engaged, and embracing learning every step of the way! 💙

Thank you Cornville Community Association!
OCS Agriculture would like to give a huge shout out to the Cornville Community Association! They provided grant funding that supplied organic potting soil, organic compost, and herbs for the garden. We love growing and appreciate all your support! -Mrs. Ludden, Oak Creek Agriculture Teacher

Oak Creek School had some very important visitors… and let’s just say our students may now believe they have been officially promoted to Junior Law Enforcement Officers.
A huge thank you to Cottonwood Police Department — Officer Bond and Officer Cervantes — and the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department, especially Deputy Brown for spending time with our students and letting them experience the very serious responsibilities of police work.
These responsibilities included:
• Sitting in patrol vehicles
• Testing the sirens (multiple times… for quality assurance)
• Pressing every button they could find
• Honking the horn
• Trying on SWAT gear that instantly made them 10x cooler
• And investigating exactly where all the important equipment is stored
There may or may not now be several students who believe they are fully qualified to conduct traffic stops in the Oak Creek School parking lot.
The friendly competition between our local law enforcement agencies also gave students a glimpse into the teamwork, professionalism, and dedication that keep our community safe every single day.
On a serious note, COCSD and Oak Creek School are incredibly lucky and blessed to have such a strong partnership, relationship, and connection with the Cottonwood Police Department and the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office. Our students not only get to learn about public safety, they get to see firsthand the people behind the badges who care deeply about this community.
Thank you for your time, your service, and for giving our students a day they won’t forget. And don’t worry… we promise we returned (most of) the future deputies and officers back to class.

☀️🌧️🌪️ Kindergarten Weather Watch at OCS! 🌈❄️
Our OCS kindergarteners have been busy meteorologists this week! Students have been learning all about different weather patterns — sunshine, rain, wind, clouds, storms, and even snow.
After discussing how weather changes and what signs we look for in the sky, our little learners took their knowledge outside and turned the sidewalk into a weather gallery! Using colorful chalk, they drew swirling tornadoes, bright suns, fluffy clouds, rainy skies, and even lightning bolts. 🌩️
It was such a fun, hands-on way to connect science learning with creativity. We love seeing our students observe, imagine, and express what they’re learning in new ways!
Way to go, OCS Kindergarten! 👏🌤️

🎉📚 OCS Celebrates the 100th Day of School! 📚🎉
Today was 100% full of fun as Oak Creek School celebrated the 100th Day of School in so many creative ways!
🧮 3rd Grade showed off their math stamina by completing 100 multiplication problems right on their desks—now that’s dedication!
🎨 Kindergarten celebrated by coloring in 100 different shapes, showing off both creativity and counting skills.
🎈 1st Grade joined in on the excitement with their own 100th Day celebrations filled with learning and fun.
🍬 2nd Grade celebrated in the best way ever… CANDY! Learning is always sweeter with a little treat.
🔍 5th Grade put their brains to work with a math scavenger hunt, combining problem-solving with teamwork.
And that was just part of it! Classrooms across campus were buzzing with counting, creating, celebrating, and smiling all day long. What a fun and memorable way to mark 100 days of learning, growth, and success at OCS! 💯✨

🎃 Kind of fitting that our LISA Smart Snack pilot refrigerator showed up on Halloween of all days — while everyone else is loading up on sugar, we’re rolling out healthy choices!
Huge thanks to the incredible COCSD Facilities crew, led by Matt Dalton, for moving and installing this 500-pound beast of a fridge — and even adding a dedicated power supply to make it all possible. 💪
Mrs. Ludden captured the perfect photo — the fridge framed by Oak Creek School’s Agriculture banner and Farm Fresh sign — a true symbol of what this program is all about. It feels so special that LISA is piloting this right where Low Income Student Aid first began its journey. Some things really do come full circle. ❤️
A big shout-out to Mike, our LISA partner-in-crime, who first sparked the snack program conversations. It’s amazing how one small idea can grow into something with real impact — this could become a signature LISA initiative!
And one last fun fact... 🥳 November 30, 2025, marks LISA’s 8th birthday! Here’s to eight years of service, innovation, and heart. 💙

🎉🍣 Things got deliciously educational in 8th grade Ag class at Oak Creek School! While learning about food/fish preservation, students took a deep dive into the history of sushi and even rolled their own maki! 👩🍳👨🍳
Hands-on, tasty, and tied to real food science — now that’s how you make learning stick! 🌾🥢

🌟 Shoutout to Our Amazing OCS Kitchen Staff and Custodian! 🌟
Today, our incredible kitchen staff and custodian went above and beyond! Due to an unexpected water leak that needed immediate repair, lunch plans had to change fast, but that didn’t stop our team. 💪
In under an hour, 264 students were fed — and our kitchen crew did it with grace, speed, and smiles! 🥪💛 Our custodian worked tirelessly to make sure everything was safe and running smoothly so the day could continue without a hitch.
We are so grateful for their hard work, flexibility, and teamwork. You truly make OCS shine! ✨👏

✨ First Grade Fairy Tale Fun! ✨

The students worked together, used their imaginations, and were so proud of their incredible creations. This hands-on project was the perfect way to bring their fairy tale lessons to life. 💙👑
