Good afternoon all,
We had an unexpected fire drill today at CCS. Students were working in the Science lab at CCS and doing a science experiment. Some solution spilled and splashed into a nearby outlet causing smoke in the classroom. The classroom was evacuated which led to a school-wide fire alarm initiated. All students were evacuated to the field. The fire department came immediately and assessed the situation. Students have now returned to the classroom to finish their day. Maintenance and Facilities are addressing the problem.

We are extending an invitation to decorate Masquerade Masks on October 10, 3:00-5:30, at the Cottonwood Public Library. It should be a creative time; filled with fun and camaraderie. These masks will be auctioned off either at our November Gala or our Mystery Event (TBD) . Hopefully, COCSD and the Verde Valley community would be interested in participating in this event by attending the mask decorating. 😉Thanks, for always being so supportive of the positive mentorship of our Verde children. Have an awesome week.
With a Sincere Thank You,

Cottonwood Community School Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with First Annual Fall Fiesta
Cottonwood Community School hosted its inaugural Fall Fiesta in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, attracting over 400 students and their families for an unforgettable evening. The event featured a lively atmosphere filled with delicious food, engaging games, and vibrant music.
Special thanks go to our generous sponsors—Sodexo, Plaza Bonita, and Conchos—for their support. The highlight of the night was a captivating performance by Mariachi Osos de Valle, which brought the community together through the joy of music. The evening culminated with a special performance by Los Lobos Mariachi, joining forces with Mariachi Osos de Valle, creating a memorable finale for all attendees.
The Fall Fiesta was a fantastic way to celebrate culture and community, fostering connections among families and honoring the rich traditions of Hispanic heritage. We look forward to making this an annual tradition!

At Cottonwood Community School, Mrs. Aston's and Ms. Sam's 1st grade classes, learners became doctors. Each learner received a gown, hat, stethoscope, and a doctor badge. They went through hands-on activities to review Human Body Systems as part of the district's CKLA Curriculum. We had so much fun bringing our learning to life.

Substitute Teachers needed at Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District. This is a great way to serve your community, and students!
