🎉 Ms. Young’s 2nd Grade Class Market at CCS was a HUGE success! 🎉
Over the past few weeks, students have been learning all about economics, budgeting money, goods and services, needs vs. wants, advertising, and even how to choose business partners. Then they put those lessons into action by creating and running their very own businesses!
Our student entrepreneurs came up with some amazing ideas, including slime shops, nail salons, snack shops, toy stores, Pokémon shops, mystery bag stands, bookstores, jewelry stores, comic shops, and even a photo booth! 🛍️📚💎📸
The creativity, teamwork, and excitement they showed throughout this project was incredible. Not only did they have tons of fun, but they also gained valuable real-world skills in communication, problem solving, responsibility, and money management.
We are so proud of their hard work, creativity, and all they learned through this hands-on experience! 👏💙💛

Our students worked incredibly hard researching, designing, and creating museum-quality exhibits that bring Civil War history to life. Their completed projects are now on public display at the Cottonwood Public Library and the Clemenceau Heritage Museum, where they will be showcased through February 27.
Thank you to our community partners for supporting student learning beyond the classroom and giving our students the authentic experience of being historians and curators. If you’re in the area, stop by and check out their amazing work!

21st Century After School Programs!
Our 21st Century Community Learning Center programs are officially launched at Cottonwood Community School, Dr. Daniel Bright, Mountain View Preparatory, and Oak Creek School.
This spring, we are serving more than 700 students district wide through over 120 after school clubs. Cottonwood Oak Creek School District is grateful for our community partners, volunteers, and the talented teachers and staff at every campus who make these opportunities possible.
Students receive dinner at no cost through our amazing food service provider, Sodexo. Thank you to our transportation department for the daily support in getting students home safely.
It truly takes a village. We are proud to be a leader in rural Arizona, and beyond, in providing high quality after school programming for kids.
A special thank you to our site coordinators for their hard work launching programs, and to Superintendent Vocca for championing the vision to keep kids safe, supported, and engaged after school.

Today at Cottonwood Community School, we wrapped up the week with our monthly Character Awards Assembly! This month, we were honored to have the assembly led by Marshall Shill, a member of The Firefighters—a professional baseball team on the Savannah Bananas' Banana Ball World Tour.
Marshall Shill grew up right here in COCSD and was once a proud Lobo himself. Our students were thrilled to welcome him back, and in his honor, we declared December 12th “Marshall Shill Day” at CCS!”
A huge thank you to Mr. Shill for helping lead our assembly and for inspiring our young learners with his story, energy, and community pride. ❤️⚾🐺
